Art In the the Time of Covid-19

David Spoof Covid-19 Corona Art PSA

It's been a month. We've been quarantined inside our homes here in Pennsylvania for a month now. Just hanging tight, chilling, watching Netflix and washing our hands like crazy. Weird times we are living in. Outright surreal if you think about it. millions of American's out of a job until this thing blows over, and we have no idea when that will happen. For artists like me, quarantine is a lot like my normal routine. In order to get artwork done I need to be in my studio for large chunks of time, left alone. However I'm getting less of that time with my kids home and that's ok. I'm just rolling along with what time I have and making things work. Like I am sure, many of you are doing. I'm trying not to beat myself up over the fact that I am not outputting hours of painting time like I typically do. My routine has changed for the foreseeable future. I do want to point out that I hav seen some incredible works of art being made by artists who now have time. Most of these artists are quarantined in isolation, without kids. Solitude is most artist's greatest tool. I do have a large scale project coming up that I can't wait to get started on and share with you. So stay tuned. Whatever you are doing or aren't doing during this shut in lockdown. Don't beat yourself up. Take it easy, you're doing the right thing by staying at home. That's all that really matters.
