Overprotected: Gas Mask Kids
Overprotected is a 20x20x1.75" original acrylic painting on canvas by artist Krissy Whiski.
The concept for this painting is an extreme dystopian view surrounding current news, and laws surrounding our children't futures. Having two boys myself, I decided to paint an image of two young girls wearing gas masks. With the prices of Epi-pens dramatically rising, the anti-vaccine movement bringing back preventable illnesses, and helicopter parents suing left and right over playground boo-boo's I decided it was time I painted something that encompasses all these issues. Society and schools are becoming too rigid in this country. Younger and younger, children are expected to play less, and learn more, what most fail to realize is that in playing, they do learn. Imaginative and creative play is important for a young mind. I hope you enjoy this playful creepy little piece of art, as much as I did creating it.
