Censorship is an original 20 x 20 x 1.5 inch acrylic painting on canvas.
The concept of this painting came at a time when I was watching congress vote on abortion. I was upset at the fact that so many old white men, had such an opinion on this topic. They seemed to have total disregard for the individuals who face this decision. I don't think it is a decision people take lightly. I also wanted to expand on that because a rape case was at the top headlines of our news. The boy's family had the audacity to blame the female victim, stating it was her fault she drank to much and let their son violate her. This painting represents the oppression of women that still exists in pockets within our culture. These aren't topics easy to discuss, so I decided I would paint the emotions I felt, the restraint, sadness and fear. This painting sums it up. I hope you enjoy.
